These days your website is more often than not, the first touch point a potential client has with your business. I cannot stress how important website optimization is to the success of your business. Platforms such as WordPress, Wix and Squarespace make creating your own website a breeze, but some of the things we speak about in regards to Website Optimization and Search Engine Optimization will go beyond the abilities of anyone who is not a web designer. I would highly recommend finding a good web designer so you can get the most out of your websites. Have you ever […]

Buyer Personas

What does your ideal client look like? Can you describe them in detail? I mean REAL detail. This is what buyer personas are and they are extremely important to your digital marketing. Let’s take a quick step back in time, you may have heard me say this before, but the messages we would send out through the traditional mediums (TV, Print, Radio) more often than not were very broad to try grabbing a little bit of interest in as many people as we could. It was hard to be very specific and targeted because we were paying such a high […]

Jun 11 2018

What is the Buyers Journey and why is it important to us as marketers and business owners? The Buyers Journey consists of the 5 stages that a person goes through when purchasing a product or service. Based on the purchase, the journey could last a matter of minutes or it could last months but they are always there. Sometimes we move through the stages subconsciously, sometimes consciously with a lot of thought. So, what are they? Awareness – We step into the awareness stage when a problem arises that we need a solution to. We think of the products or […]

Before we can dive into my overview of digital marketing, I think we need to take a step back and have a very brief look at the main traditional marketing avenues first. The world wide web was launched in 1994. Advertising first began appearing in Google in 2000, with Facebook launching its advertising platform in 2012. In the big scheme of things, digital marketing has only been around for a very short period of time. But wow, hasn’t it evolved quickly! Traditional marketing has been around for a very long time. The print medium was born somewhere around 618 […]

Sadly, it seems we are losing our intrinsic connection to nature. Modern society has severed our connection to nature in many ways. The animals we are, human beings, evolved as a hunter gatherer species. We are designed to move through the land, following our food sources. This was the norm for our species for 1.8 millions years. Things have changed. Society has advanced at faster rates than ever in the last 100 years. Much faster than we are can keep up on an evolutionary basis. It is easier and safer for us to live now than it ever has been. […]

I want to share my digital marketing journey and what I’m learning with you. I’ve been in sales and marketing for 16 years now. Traditional marketing that is. However, I’ve recently started studying digital marketing and I find myself constantly thinking of how the gems of knowledge I am picking up long the way could really help friends I have that run businesses. Like Pauly’s gym, Renee’s natural beauty products, Kane’s plumbing business and others. I’m regularly thinking that this could help them or if they know about that. I’ve also learnt that the digital world evolves week by week, […]

Firstly I want to state that paid search advertising should not be your first port of call in the world of digital marketing. When you’re building a house, you don’t build the frame work before you pour the slab. The slab is your website optimization and your search engine optimization. So, before you venture into paid search marketing, pour your slab. Why should you spend time optimizing your website and making sure your search engine optimization is in place? Because they don’t cost money for starters, and because when you aren’t running paid campaigns, website optimization and SEO are the […]

Why did I choose digital marketing? Evolution. Curiosity. Fascination. First of all, I want to create my own digital marketing agency, mainly to work with small business. So, digital marketing agency… study digital marketing – No brainer right? But how and why did I get to the point of knowing this? I’ve always been in sales. Since my first job in the deli of a supermarket when I was 15 years old. I didn’t know it them but sales and marketing were already having an influence on me. How we displayed the deli goods to make them look inviting and […]

Post's featued image.

I’ve heard it a lot in the photography world from professionals all over the place. Specialize. Find the one style/type of photography you like most and own it completely. I think this is wrong, not for an established professional with 10+ years in the game. If you are at this stage and you can earn a great living and be happy shooting nothing but your specialty, then by all means specialize. But if you’re anyone but the 10+ year vet, then I think specializing is the wrong way to go. I think if you get caught up in only shooting […]

Aperture is is probably the most confusing camera setting we need to deal with. If you are in to photography at any level, I’m guessing you’ve thought this at least once, or 300 times. Maybe it was a long time ago and now you know exactly how it works and exactly how going up two stops is going to affect the next image you capture. But, out of the 3 main settings, aperture is definitely the more confusing one to get your head around. I know that thought has crossed my mind a few times. I’ve studied photography, read text […]
