Aperture… wait what is that again?

    February 10, 2018

If you are in to photography at any level, I’m guessing you’ve thought this at least once, or 300 times. Maybe it was a long time ago and now you know exactly how it works and exactly how going up two stops is going to affect the next image you capture. But, out of the 3 main settings, aperture is definitely the more confusing one to get your head around. I know that thought has crossed my mind a few times. I’ve studied photography, read text books and internet tutorials and been shooting for about 12 years now and as a beginner, I couldn’t find a text book, article or…

    Blunt Barbers

    December 26, 2017

“Hey bro! You want a beer??” That’s Kenny, the owner of Blunt Barbers in West Footscray. His chair is positioned right at the front door so he can great everyone as they walk in with his smile and offer of a drink, no matter what time of day it is. Don’t expect any 10-minute haircuts or quick short back and sides at Blunt. Nothing here happens in 10 minutes, which to me is a welcome change to the fast paced world of instant gratification and our usual frustration about not being able to get what we want this second. A visit to Blunt makes you stop and relax. When you…

How important is professional photography to my business?

    May 3, 2017

My smartphone has a 16-megapixel camera, I can save some money and I’ll just do my imagery myself. Sound familiar? With the growth of technology and social media, there is more “noise” out there to cut through than ever. Instagram users “like” 4.2 billion posts ever day. Sure that’s world wide, but it gives you an idea of what you are up against in the modern world of advertising and also the potential reach that is right there at your fingertips. How do you cut through that noise when so much of what people post are photos of the delicious food that just turned up at the café, or the…

    Street Art

    January 17, 2016

Melbourne has always been known for its street art. I hadn’t explored the street art scene until just recently. Its obvious there are some amazingly talented artists out there and it is great to see that being recognised by councils. Commissioning some of these artists to display their work, pay them for it and not see them as vandals. But the vandals are still out there. Whilst I was blown away to see the skill and talent of these artists at the same time I was annoyed to see that their work had been vandalised by pathetic, terrible looking “tags” that just do not belong. To the artists out there,…

    Off the Grid

    January 4, 2016

Over the Christmas holidays I was able to get away, hit the road with my cameras, my tent, some firewood and no plans. Half the time I had no phone reception or direct connection to the world of technology which in itself was amazingly refreshing.

    The Willis Family

    December 9, 2012

I recently had the privilege of capturing some images for the Willis family. The grandparents were there and also their 2 adorable little girls. We had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs.
